Jets acquire Laurent Duvernay-Tardif from Chiefs…

The Jets obtained an offensive lineman who hasn’t played an NFL game in nearly two years, but then again, he hasn’t yielded a sack during that time, either.

Jets GM Joe Douglas acquired offensive guard and medical doctor Laurent Duvernay-Tardif from the Chiefs ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline in exchange for tight end Dan Brown.

Duvernay-Tardif, who graduated from McGill University in Canada, worked in the medical field in a long-term care facility outside Montreal last year after opting out of the 2020 NFL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 30-year-old lineman was active Monday night against the Giants for the first time since the Chiefs’ win over the 49ers in the Super Bowl in Feb. 2020. He appeared in 60 games with 57 starts for the Chiefs from 2015-19 and could push right guard Greg Van Roten for playing time.

Duvernay-Tardif suffered a hand injury in the preseason and was inactive for Kansas City’s first seven games.
