Nathaniel Hackett’s arrival in Denver also signifies the arrival of a new, more exciting offense for the Broncos.

As he said in his introductory press conference, Hackett and his still-developing staff will work to implement a more explosive scheme based in West Coast offense principles in the hopes of improving Denver’s 23rd-ranked scoring offense.

“I think the starting point is outside zone,” Hackett said on Jan. 28. “Outside zone on offense is what you want to do, and you want to base that off of play-pass. You want to make the defense cover the entire field. You want to take shots down the field.”

With that kind of a change in the works, ESPN’s Jeff Legwold singled out three players who could reap the biggest rewards on offense: running back Javonte Williams, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and guard Quinn Meinerz.

“Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey, Demaryius Thomas all proved it and Jeudy should flourish in it — a precision offense demands precision from its receivers and the most precise will benefit the most,” Legwold wrote. “Jeudy is consistently lauded by defensive coaches around the league for his ability to create space with his footwork, speed and suddenness.”
