Week 9 Fantasy Football Waivers
5 min read
I sincerely hope your fantasy results have your team(s) poised for a playoff run. If your team has not experienced a rash of injuries, are you even playing fantasy football in 2026? I will not bore you with a list of injured players. If you roster them, then you already know. None of the injured names, outside of Lamar Jackson, qualify as breaking or new news.
Check in with the @Razzball NFL writing team as we host our Sunday Morning Start/Sit podcast every week starting two hours before kickoff of the 1pm EST games all the way up to the official start of the early games. Sky – @SkyGuasco, Derek – @Derek_Favret, Jeff @Jefferson__21, Dave @crewswe128 and me/Matt – @stiles08, will be answering all your questions to help you win your weekly matchups. Come for the analysis and stay for the laughs!
WAIVERS:
ADD OF THE WEEK = Jonah Coleman – 72% rostered is now the guy in Denver. You have a very small window to add the only Broncos RB with “juice” as noted by the commentators calling the Week 8 matchup with the Chiefs. Coleman got all the goal line carries. Coleman got virtually all the passing down work, too. Break the bank to acquire Coleman if you did not heed my advice last week when he was only 38% rostered. His next two games, with a bye in the middle, are against the hapless Panthers and Raiders rush defenses. Coleman could be a league winner.
QB: Kirk Cousins – 56% rostered now sits at QB4 on the season. He dropped a 30-point performance in Week 8. Sure, it was against the Jets, but it is his second 30-point game in a season that has seen him break 23 points in six of eight games. Captain Kirk has entered the must-start chat room.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Geno Smith – 23% rostered is the QB15 as it stands today. He is a viable bye week replacement level player and can even be used as a spot starter for his upcoming matchups against Buffalo, Miami, and Arizona (in the fantasy playoffs).
RB: Mike Washington Jr – 27% rostered just carried the rock 25 times to Ashton Jeanty’s two. This is a great sign for the rookie RB and appears to be by design per the Raiders head coach. If that is, indeed, the case, and Mike McDonald stated such in the post-game presser, then we all need to roster and give serious start consideration to Washington.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Emmett Johnson – 19% rostered is a player that has been in this weekly write-up a couple times, listed as a stash. Ladies and gentlemen, I hope you took my previous advice and added both Coleman (see above) and Johnson on the cheap. Neither is going to be inexpensive come these Week 9 waivers. Our guy Emmett just dropped 140+ combined yards and a long TD on the Broncos. He is the clear receiving back for the Chiefs and can spell Kenneth Walker III from time to time. He just re-emerged as a must-own player.
Chris Rodriguez Jr – 26% rostered is the RB2 for an offense that is truly humming right now. They have plus matchups for the remainder of the season, on paper, except for Week 15 at Houston. Should anything happen to Bhayshul Tuten, Rodriguez would be poised for massive fantasy returns. He is a stash/handcuff for now.
Tyler Allgeier – 52% rostered began the season as one of the darling RB moves in the NFL. Then the Cardinals threw cold water on his signing by drafting Jeremiyah Love. The numbers say that slightly over half of Allgeier owners have held onto him. I doubt many, if any, started him for his 40+ PPR explosion in Week 8. With the RB1 for the Cardinals struggling to stay healthy and, on the field, Allgeier may re-announced his presence to the fantasy community.
WR: Tre Tucker – 75% rostered makes this list for a second week. I know, I know, his roster percentage is too high for this article. Stick with me for a minute. In Week 8, Tucker posted 0.00 PPR points on one target. This is not the norm and will not continue, especially the way Kirk Cousins (see above) is playing. Tucker is a player that will be dropped when waivers run. I implore you to pick him up, possibly for free, once he is dropped and clears waivers. You will not be disappointed when we all realize Week 8 was the outlier and not the norm.
Adonai Mitchell – 11% rostered has been watching from the injury report as Omar Cooper Jr gathered all the headlines. Enter Week 8 where Cooper saw zero point zero targets and Mitchell lit up the Raiders defense for 30+ PPR points. There are rumors swirling that Garrett Wilson could be moved at the trade deadline. If that occurs, Cooper and Mitchell could be a dynamic duo for Geno Smith (see above).
Antonio Williams – 26% rostered might be the beneficiary of the Terry McLaurin knee injury. Certainly, I think Stefon Diggs will be the first option in the Commanders passing game, but I feel Williams should see increased targets with the McLaurin absence. He saw the most Commanders targets (7) and led the team in receptions (5) in Week 8.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Rather than bore you with invented explicative comments about middling WRs, I will simply give you a list to consider. These are players that stepped in, possibly stepped up (a little) for their team in Week 6: Kyle Williams / DeMario Douglas / Efton Chism III Keenan Allen (Josh Downs not cutting it), and Jahan Dotson. As noted with other players in this column, these are all ‘in case of emergency, break glass’ players versus anyone you want to rely on long-term.
TE: Eli Raridon – 1% rostered is the deepest of deep fliers. If the Hunter Henry and AJ Brown injuries linger, the rookie could be poised for additional usage.
As mentioned above, it has only been one week, so if you lost, got blown out even, relax. It will be OK. There is no need to rush to drop any specific player.
