Week 8 Fantasy Football Waivers

6 min read

If your fantasy football time is 4-3 or better at this point, then you should be ecstatic.  This season has come with more injuries and strange statistical output that I can recall from previous seasons.  If you need to know how funky this season has been, look no further than George Kittle and Brock Bowers not scoring on National TE Day!  But Davis Allen scored twice to prove I have no idea what is happy in fantasy football in the year 2026.

Check in with the @Razzball NFL writing team as we host our Sunday Morning Start/Sit podcast every week starting two hours before kickoff of the 1pm EST games all the way up to the official start of the early games.  Sky – @SkyGuasco, Derek – @Derek_Favret, Jeff @Jefferson__21, Dave @crewswe128 and me/Matt – @stiles08, will be answering all your questions to help you win your weekly matchups.  Come for the analysis and stay for the laughs!

WAIVERS:

ADD OF THE WEEK = Omar Cooper Jr – 48% rostered just completed a second straight week with over 25 PPR points.  He has back-to-back 100-yard,1 TD games for an offense that loves to throw the ball.  I still believe Garrett Wilson is the WR1 but we have to pay attention to the past two weeks’ production from Cooper Jr.

QB: Malik Willis – 18% rostered: Three of six games with 19.90+ fantasy points.  Two more with 14+.  One dud (Week 4).  With more bye weeks on the schedule, you can do worse than a QB that provides significant rushing upside.  His three rushing TDs across seven weeks do not put him in Josh Allen territory but the upside with rushing can prove beneficial especially during bye weeks.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

J.J. McCarthy – 11% rostered In a game dominated by the Giants rushing offense, even Cam Skattebo, McCarthy has proven to be a viable passing option for fantasy.  His connection with Malik Nabers alone makes him someone we need to keep on our bye week radar.  He appears to have wrestled the starting gig away from Jameis Winston, and I do not see HC Jon Harbaugh moving back to Winston anytime soon.

RB: NYG RBs – various % rostered Somehow this became a three RB committee after Cam Skattebo fumbled in Week 5 (four fumbles with one lost on the season).  After Sunday, it appears to be a backfield led by Skattebo even though Tyrone Tracy Jr. notched the first rushing TD of the game and Devin Singletary tallied the third.  I think Harbaugh made his point with Skattebo and that led to a better version of the RB in Week 7.  I like Skattebo over the other two options moving forward.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Jonah Coleman – 35% rostered led the Denver backfield in carries (9) in Week 7 and added two receptions.  He was not the recipient of the TD carry as that went to J.K. Dobbins but we need to at least acknowledge Coleman being back and stepping right back into this strange running back by committee approach for the Broncos.  HC Sean Payton is not one we will ever figure out so add Coleman as a stash and start him with all the trepidation warranted.

Kendre Miller – 43% rostered is still an option but not one I trust.  Alvin Kamara – 62% rostered has outscored Miller two straight weeks and Travis Etienne – 82% rostered is expected back as soon as Week 8.  I would stay away from this backfield, if possible.

Seth McGowan – 7% rostered is still lingering around the scene but only with single digit fantasy outputs.  The reason he appears in this space after Week 7 is based on the Jonathan Taylor trade rumors.  Should Taylor get moved, McGowan will see a major uptick in action for the Colts.  I am not sure this will translate into starting fantasy RB stats but we should consider the positive aspects of increased volume.

Samaje Perine – 12% rostered.  The only saving grace was the short TD Perine had late in the game.  This offense is a pass first offense that needs the run to be somewhat viable to keep Joe Burrow upright.  I think Perine is a better NFL player than he is a fantasy football asset.  Keep an eye on the split between him and Chase Brown.  I am confident Brown is the RB1 with Perine providing some relief at times.

Dameon Pierce – 63% rostered looked good on MNF scoring an early TD and rushing hard.  Additionally, Saquon Barkley appears to still have lingering issues with his hamstring.  The main issue is that Pierce left the game in the second half and did not return.  This may open the door for former 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell – 0% rostered who handled the carries with Barkley dinged and Pierce missing the end of the game.  Temper your expectations considering this offense looks atrocious.

If you are desperate at RB, consider kicking the tires on Bam Knight – 25% rostered appears to be the lead dog for the Cardinals with Jeremiyah Love sidelined due to injury.  I do not love the production but do appreciate the touches/volume.

WR: Tre Tucker – 59% rostered is still not on enough fantasy rosters.  Captain Kirk loves to throw the ball deep which means Tucker will have much more upside than other WRs available in your league.  Tucker will probably never be a target hog, but he can certainly take the top off a defense and only needs one catch to make him a viable start.  I will not call him the poor man’s Jameson Williams but he is really close to that moniker.

Keon Coleman – 28% rostered had three straight weeks with a TD prior to the Bills bye week.  If DJ Moore continues to struggle to get back on the field, Coleman is a nice place to start to fill the void.  He may have been dropped during the bye week, so check your waiver list.

Antonio Williams – 8% rostered might be the beneficiary of the Terry McLaurin knee injury.  Certainly, I think Stefon Diggs will be the first option in the Commanders passing game but I feel Washington should see increased targets with the McLaurin absence.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Rather than bore you with invented explicative comments about middling WRs, I will simply give you a list to consider.  These are players that stepped in, possibly stepped up (a little) for their team in Week 6: Kyle Williams / DeMario Douglas / Efton Chism III (Doubs to IR), Konata Mumpfield, Laquon Treadwell / Keenan Allen (Warren injured; Josh Downs not cutting it), and Jahan Dotson.  As noted with other players in this column, these are all ‘in case of emergency, break glass’ players versus anyone you want to rely on long-term.

TE: Brenton Strange – 46% and Chig Okonkwo – 17% rostered were dropped across a few leagues.  Both are streaming options that may end up as weekly TE starters.

As mentioned above, it has only been one week, so if you lost, got blown out even, relax.  It will be OK.  There is no need to rush to drop any specific player.
