Too soon, Keegan-Michael Key, too soon. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce wasn’t having any jokes at his team’s expense after losing to the Bengals.
The NFL Honors were on Thursday night, with Andrew Whitworth winning Walter Payton Man of the Year, and Aaron Rodgers taking home the league MVP. While the award show is a good way to waste time before the Super Bowl, the NFL has struggled to find a reliable host, with Keegan-Michael Key the latest to try his hand.
While Key’s jokes did land with the majority of the audience, one in particular seemed to get under the skin of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Most of the audience laughed, but when the camera panned with Kelce, he didn’t love the joke at his quarterback’s expense. Heck, the Chiefs did just lose to the Bengals less than two weeks ago. It’s safe to say they aren’t over it just yet.
Kelce couldn’t even flash a fake smile, instead going all-in on the stone cold reaction.
Should Chiefs be offended by jokes at their expense?
No. Don’t be a sore loser.
Mahomes and the Chiefs blew a big lead in a large moment, meaning the jokes are sure to come all offseason. Eventually, they will become tired and the team can use it all as bulletin board material come training camp.
How do you think Tom Brady stayed motivated through his age-44 season? He has an entire social team dedicated to finding the one, poor analyst who dares to doubt him every single year.
I’m looking at you, Max Kellerman.
