Ravens Claim Veteran Guard Off Waivers

The Ravens have claimed guard Christian Haynes off waivers, adding to their offensive line depth.

Haynes was released by the Seattle Seahawks this week after they traded for Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson.

Haynes started five games for the defending Super Bowl champions this season. He split time with rookie Beau Stephens at right guard.

Haynes is a 2024 third-round pick out of Connecticut, where he played in the trenches with Ravens defensive tackle Travis Jones. The 6-foot-3 Haynes is also a Bowie, Md. native.

Ravens first-round rookie Vega Ioane is dealing with a knee injury that could force him to miss time, although Head Coach Jesse Minter said Wednesday that he’s not ruling Ioane out for Sunday’s game in Buffalo.

If Ioane is not available to play, Minter said it would be an open competition between Emery Jones Jr. and Andrew Vorhees as to who starts at right guard.

Once he gets up to speed with the Ravens’ scheme, Haynes could enter that conversation and provide depth for an offensive line that has been tested by injuries early this season.

On Tuesday, the Ravens added depth by signing veteran offensive guard Michael Jordan to their practice squad.
