Pete Carroll says the team wants to re-sign backup QB Geno Smith. While we don’t object to it on a pure football-decision kind of level, there are several other good backups out there who are more deserving of the opportunity. That list includes Jacoby Brissett and Tyrod Taylor, who’s become perhaps the unluckiest quarterback in professional football.
However, the truth is there are very few quarterbacks in this free agent class with a better résumé. Taylor (6-foot-1, 217 pounds) offers mobility, consistency and a winning record as a starter at 26-25-1. In his 78-game career he’s posted over 10,000 passing yards, 59 touchdowns and a low 1.6% interception rate.
