Jets radio voice Bob Wischusen out with COVID

Virtually every part of the field that Jets fans scan over will be affected by COVID Sunday, when the Jets’ head coach and many of their players will be missing.

Even the radio listeners will absorb the game differently.

Bob Wischusen, the play-by-play voice for ESPN Radio, will not be calling Jets-Jaguars at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The longtime broadcaster has COVID but says he’s “fine.”

“[A]lready on the other side of any symptoms,” Wischusen, the Jets’ radio play-by-player since 2002, wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “[B]ut I’m forced to miss my first ever regular season game tomorrow.”

Dan Graca will be on the call, Wischusen said.

All around the NFL (and each pro league) teams are being hit hard by the coronavirus, and Robert Saleh is not expected to coach for the Jets after testing positive. Among the many position groups affected is at safety, where the Jets might sign two players signed this week.
