The NFL trade deadline is still one week away, but like Christmas music at the mall, teams have started early this season.

The latest big move around the league has a direct impact on the Seattle Seahawks.

The 6-0 49ers, who retain a comfortable two game lead in the NFC West, dealt a 2020 third and 2020 fourth round pick to the Broncos in exchange for veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and a 2020 fifth round pick, according to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.

The 49ers were in need of some reinforcements in the receiving game, relying heavily on an inexperienced group lead by Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis, not to mention quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who has had an inconsistent campaign despite the sterling record.

San Francisco’s decision to make a win-now move comes shortly after a similar decision by the Rams, who are one game behind the Seahawks, decided to go all-in by dealing away Marcus Peters and acquiring superstar corner Jalen Ramsey from the Jaguars.

The question now, with one week until the trade deadline, is if Seattle will also choose to make a win-now trade – the kind of move they have been more than willing to make in the past, as evidenced by the acquisition of Duane Brown in 2017.

Any move made in the next seven days by Seattle will likely involve their tight end spot, a position of need following the season-ending injury suffered by Will Dissly in Week 6.

The open market could include names like Cincinnati’s Tyler Eifert, Tennessee’s Delanie Walker and potentially Tampa Bay’s O.J. Howard, although he is reportedly not on the market at this point.

Seattle is known for being involved in every trade conversation around the league, and the aggressive style of GM John Schneider could easily lead to a deal in the coming days as this team tries to stay afloat in what is rapidly becoming the strongest division in football.
