Week 11 Waiver Wire
Sorry Folks, This weeks waiver wire is looking pretty bleak. Injuries to Matt Stafford, Devonta Freeman and a Saquon Barkley injury scare may help provide some early waiver wire picks a gem or two but overall nothing too exciting this week so far. (This is being written in the 4th quarter of the afternoon games).
If by chance Nick Foles, Daniel Jones, Ryan Tannehill or Mitch Trubisky are available I would rank them ahead any of the following guys but in most competitive leagues these guys are owned already.
Brandon Allen/Drew Lock
I mentioned these two last week but with the bye week chances are neither was picked up. Matthew Staffords injury may create a need for a team to have a new QB for a few weeks and I’d rather have Brandon Allen, over say some of the other stinker bandaid guys out there like Ryan Finley and Brian Hoyer. Brandon Allen is the starter for now in Denver for the Broncos but for how long? Eventually the Broncos will give Drew Lock some action. In 2 QB leagues you’ll have to add them both if you want a QB for the rest of the year.
Filling in at the last minute Driskel didn’t look horrible and with a decimated running back group the Lions are almost guaranteed to be airing it out for the rest of the season. I would only add Driskel if you were going to need to play Stafford in the next few weeks.
While it is unknown at the time of writing this on how severe Devona Freeman’s ankle injury is, at this time Brian Hill has to be regarded as this weeks top waiver wire claim. Earlier in the week the Falcons placed Ito Smith on IR so that already had locked Hill in as a top handcuff and now for those that had precviously added him they may be in for fantasy gold. If you see the Falcons sign a Free Agent RB early in the week than assume the worst for Freeman. Hill carried the ball 20 times for 61 yards against a good Saints defense so the Falcons certainly have confidence that he can carry the load. Kenyon Barner barely saw the field and only had one carry.
I recommended a preemptive pick up of Guice before and if he still is on your waiver wire this will probably be your last chance to get him. While running for the Redskins isn’t the ideal place for a talented back his upside his so great that you have to grab him, even if he is only healthy for a game or two.
The revolving door of Lion’s running backs continue. Next up is J.D. McKissic. He is more valuable in a PPR league as the Lions ground game has grounded to a halt. As with any starting RB in the NFL he is a must own even if you only have what the heck flex expectations for him.
The absences of Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard had a lot to do with his performance in week 10 and in the past couple of weeks he has been the model of inconsistency running hot and ice cold but with catching 10 passes for 121 yards to go along with his two scores showed that he is a must start player if those guys are out. Both of them have to be considered week to week with no set timeline for their return so if you need a upside lottery ticket than Slayton is your guy.
I mentioned Renfrow last week and even though the Raiders only put up 218 yards in the air this week Renfrow was right in the mix for the team lead in catches and yards. Over the past 3 weeks, he’s caught 14 passes on 16 targets, and he’s scored touchdowns in two of those three games. He is not a priority pick up by any means but he could be good bench depth for your team.
With Tyler Lockett suffering a “severe” leg injury and spending the night in the hospital moves up Josh Gordon to the priority add list. He may be owned already because of his name value but if he is available (or D.K. Metcalf) is available they need to be added in all formats.
If you have been hanging your hat on Austin Hooper you’ll need to pick up one of these guys.
Tyler Eifert is surprisingly unowned in the majority of leagues. Yet he has scored 10 or more PPR points for two weeks in a row making him TE streamer worthy. He is still a streamer and not an every week started for most teams but he does have some nice matchups coming up and with an unproven QB anything can happen.
He’s back!!! Howard was a top 6 Fantasy TE draft pick that many people had high expectations for however playing in a Bruce Arians offense and injuries have ruined many fantasy teams hopes this year. If he was dropped in your league watch him get scooped up after scoring a TD this week. He has the talent but you really should let others pick him up unless you are really desperate.
Yes, He is the #2 TE but we have seen other teams like Indy have 2 top performing TE’s so Boyle is a streamer worthy candidate. Baltimore has some nice passing match ups coming up and Boyle hasn’t been a slouch recently. He has managed 9 grabs in recent contests with 1 TD so those are streamer worthy numbers. He won’t win you the league but maybe won’t hurt you if you need a bye week replacement coming up.
