Steelers GM Kevin Colbert Busy Scouting Big 10...

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is busy scouting some Big 10 football during the team’s bye week and that’s not overly surprising.

Friday night Colbert was spotted in attendance at the Ohio State versus Northwestern game and Saturday morning he was spotted in attendance at that Iowa versus Purdue game.

It’s certainly hard to know which players that Colbert is closely watching this weekend and the list might be quite long at that. Even so, Ohio State has three early top-rated players in edge-rusher Chase Young, cornerback Jeffrey Okudah and wide receiver K.J. Hill. Young and Okudah are already projected to be a first-round selections in the 2020 NFL Draft should they ultimately decide to declare after their 2019 junior seasons are over with.

As for a few Iowa players that Colbert might be watching closely on Saturday, tackle Tristan Wirfs and defensive end A.J. Epenesa are seemingly their two highest-rated players and both are underclassmen.

The Steelers don’t currently have a first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft due to them trading that pick away earlier this season to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. While it’s still early, four of the five players noted above that Colbert might be scouting some this weekend are currently expected to be selected in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

A few other players that Colbert may have have eyes on this weekend are cornerbacks Shaun Wade and Damon Arnette from Ohio State and tackle Alaric Jackson and safety Geno Stone from Iowa, just to name a few.
