Russell Wilson and Earl Thomas remain close...

The big storyline in Week 7’s matchup between the Ravens and Seahawks revolves around the return of safety Earl Thomas to Seattle, where he will play for the first time since he was a member of the team.

Thomas’ departure may have caused a lot of turmoil, and his reunion with coach Pete Carroll could be a tad rocky considering their last public interaction, but it’s very clear Seahawks players who know Thomas have nothing but respect for him.

Most notably, Thomas and quarterback Russell Wilson were very close friends while he was in Seattle, a friendship that remains tight to this day.

“Earl and I are actually really close,” Wilson commented on Thursday. “We actually text quite a bit and communicate even during the season sometimes. I think for Earl and I, we’ve shared a lot of similarities just in terms of his passion for the game. He loves the game. I think for us, my family and his, we’ve shared a lot of cool moments together. Our kids spend a lot of time together, me and Earl and his wife and Ciara. It’s been really cool just getting to know him outside of football, which is always amazing.”

The sentiment was shared by Thomas, who told Baltimore media members, “I’m always going to have nothing but positivity when talking about Russ.”

“Russ has always been good to me and my family,” Thomas continued. “My kids and his kids are close. My wife and his wife are close.”

Thomas spent nine years in the Emerald City, racking up 684 combined tackles, 67 passes defended and 28 interceptions.

He was a six-time Pro Bowler and was named an All-Pro three times, making his mark as the true leader of the Legion of Boom.

Thomas has played well in his first season with Baltimore, with an interception, two passes defended and 19 total tackles.

While he no doubt wants to be the person who breaks Wilson’s interception streak, the two have proven they can remain close friends despite the tumultuous way Thomas’ career ended with the Seahawks.
