Steelers 2019 Preseason Game 2: 7 Offensive...

The Pittsburgh Steelers won their second preseason game of 2019 Saturday night by beating the Kansas City Chiefs 17-7 at Heinz Field. The Steelers, however, did have a few players suffer minor injuries during the game, according to what head coach Mike Tomlin said during his post game press conference.

“We had some guys with minor bumps and bruises that are being evaluated,” Tomlin said. “Benny Snell with a groin. [Anthony] Chickillo with a chest injury of some description. None of that appears to be serious at this juncture.”

Running back Benny Snell Jr., the team’s fourth-round draft pick this year out of Kentucky, rushed for just 16 yards on 7 carries Saturday night and caught 2 passes for 5 yards. As for outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo, he registered just one assisted tackle against the Chiefs in what appeared to be very limited playing time.

The Steelers chose to hold rookie inside linebacker Devin Bush out of the Saturday night game and Tomlin explained why he decided to do so during his press conference.

“I held Devin Bush out of the game. He missed a couple of days during the week with a shoulder,” Tomlin said. “We’ll bring him back and get going here as we prepare for our next one. Just as a precaution.”

Also sitting out the team’s Saturday night game were quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (coaches decision), cornerback Joe Haden (ankle?), center Maurkice Pouncey (back), guard David DeCastro (undisclosed), tight end Zach Gentry (undisclosed), outside linebacker Olasunkanmi Adeniyi (knee), outside linebacker Sutton Smith (abdomen), inside linebacker Vince Williams (hamstring), tight end Christian Scotland-Williamson (soft tissue).

Tomlin was asked about Gentry about the game and he would only say that the rookie is out with an injury. Tomlin also wouldn’t talk any about Adeniyi, who reportedly had a torn meniscus repaired on Friday.

“He’s out right now and I’ll have some information for you probably next week, Tomlin said.

The Steelers will resume practices on Monday and their next preseason game is next Sunday night against the Tennessee Titans.
