Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not part of the Madden 99 Club this year as he was given an overall rating of 90 for the EA Sports video game Madden 20. Rodgers might not care about Madden ratings, but one of his former teammates is not happy about where Rodgers is rated.
Los Angeles Chargers Casey Hayward noticed Rodgers rating in Madden 20 and he was a little surprised.
“Rodgers 90?” Hayward said on Twitter as he retweeted the top Madden 20 QB ratings.
Last year, Rodgers was one of the seven players that earned a 99 rating. But with the way he played in 2018, the folks at EA Sports probably feel that Rodgers is not the Rodgers we’ve seen in the past.
Rodgers ended the season with 4,442 yards, 25 touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 97.2. Those numbers would be strong for any NFL QB and those numbers should be good enough to lead a team to a playoff appearance. However, those weren’t good numbers for Rodgers or the Packers as the team finished with a 6-9-1 record and it’s the first time since 1991 the team has suffered back-to-back losing seasons. Also, the 25 touchdowns are the lowest in his career when has played at least 10 games in a season.
Rodgers had his worst season as a pro last year. But the thing is, Rodgers’ worst season would be the best season for almost every starting quarterback. So EA Sports still thinks highly of Rodgers, the developers of the game just believe there are a few quarterbacks who are better.
Here’s a look at the top-rated QBs in Madden 20.

As for Hayward, he played for the Packers from 2012-2015. During his time with Packers, Hayward recorded nine interceptions and 34 passes defended in 51 games. He had a breakout rookie season, posting 48 tackles, six interceptions and 20 passes defended. After the 2012 season, Hayward wasn’t able to match the same success because of injuries and the depth at the cornerback position. Hayward played the outside corner and the nickel position during his time in Green Bay.
The Packers let Hayward become a free agent after the 2015 season and the Chargers signed him to a three-year, $15.3 million contract. He responded by recording 11 interceptions and 42 passes defended in his two seasons with the Chargers. Along with reaching the Pro Bowl in 2016 and 2017, Hayward was named to the All-Pro Second Team twice.
Before the 2018 season, Hayward signed a three-year $33.25 million contract extension that includes $20 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $8 million. He played in all 16 games during the 2018 season and registered 46 tackles and eight passes defended.
Madden 20 is set to be released on Aug. 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The “Superstar” and the “Ultimate Superstar” editions of the game will be released on Jul. 30.
