Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner scouting report
1 min read
Gardner has the ideal height/weight/speed combo to be the prototypical boundary corner. On top of that, he has some of the best production of any corner coming out of college in recent memory, going his entire collegiate career without allowing a single touchdown.
An instinctive cover man with a high football IQ, Gardner is able to deduce what’s happening in front of him and close on the ball with amazing quickness. He uses his length to compliment that mental prowess, leading to a ton of pass breakups. Though his interception count seems low (three in 2021), teams rarely threw at him, and with good reason. There was simply no point, because of how well he blanketed receivers, and taking away an entire side of the field can’t be understated.
Opposing quarterbacks had a career passer rating of 31.2 when throwing Gardner’s way, which is lower than a quarterback spiking the ball into the ground every play.
